I don’t know the oldest piece of clothing I have that’s still in my wardrobe, but I would think it’s at least early 90’s.

Stuff I have had to thrown out are either worn so thin the holes can’t be patched, and/or the elastic was terminal and could not be changed years ago. And I do get rid of socks 🧦 mostly.
