-International Events-
1. Iran threatens to start hitting Gulf power plants and mine waters as Israel launches new attacks: Tehran’s threat puts at risk both electrical supplies and water in the Gulf Arab states, particularly as the desert nations commingle their power stations with desalination plants crucial for supplying drinking water. Over the weekend, Iran launched missiles targeting Dimona in Israel, near a facility key to its long-suspected atomic weapons program. The Israeli facility wasn’t damaged in the barrage. (AP)
2. WHO says attack on Sudan hospital killed 64, including 13 children: multiple patients, two female nurses and one male doctor were also among those killed in the attack on al-Daein Teaching Hospital in al-Daein, the capital of East Darfur state, on Friday night. Sudanese rights group the Emergency Lawyers reported it was an army drone strike that hit the hospital. Near-daily drone attacks are now a hallmark of Sudan’s brutal war, killing dozens at a time, mostly in the South Kordofan region. (AlJazeera)
3. Israeli Settlers Torch Homes Across West Bank During Eid al-Fitr: Israeli settlers attacked at least six Palestinian villages overnight Saturday into Sunday, torching homes, cars and a medical center, and beating residents during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. At least three Palestinians were hospitalized with head wounds in Jalud village, while Hebrew graffiti reading "Avenge Yehuda" was spray-painted on buildings and a mosque following the death of 18-year-old settler Yehuda Sherman. -US Events-
1. Pilot and copilot killed in collision between jet and fire truck at New York's LaGuardia: A pilot and copilot were killed in a collision between Air Canada jet and fire truck at New York's LaGuardia airport. 2. Officials scramble to carry out Trump's directive to have ICE agents conduct airport security: On Saturday, Mr. Trump posted a message on Truth Social suggesting he would deploy ICE agents to airports to conduct security and arrest people in the U.S. illegally, if congressional Democrats did not agree on a deal to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Trump's directive caught officials at ICE off guard and they have been scrambling to come up with a plan to enforce it, sources said. (CBS)
3. Venezuelan migrant charged with murder of Loyola student Sheridan Gorman: Jose Medina, 25, faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm for the March 19 attack near a pier at Tobey Prinz Beach, according to Chicago police. Medina was taken into custody by the U.S. Border Patrol in May 2023, released and then taken into custody again two months later for shoplifting. DHS Secretary Lauren Bis claimed in a statement that Gorman was “failed by open border policies and sanctuary politicians” and urged Gov. JB Pritzker to not release Medina, who was scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday. (ChicagoSunTimes)
-Regulatory and Legal-
1. White House Reaches Tentative Crypto Regulatory Agreement: Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Sen. Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) said Friday they have an “agreement in principle” on language intended to balance innovation with financial stability. The legislation seeks to prevent stablecoin rewards programs from triggering widespread deposit withdrawals from traditional banks, a concern raised by Wall Street groups. The tentative deal signals progress toward an April vote on the crypto market-structure bill, potentially unlocking the first major federal regulatory framework for digital assets. (BitcoinMag)

2. US 10Y Yield Edges Higher on Inflation Fears: The yield on the US 10-year Treasury note rose to around 4.4% on Monday, reaching eight-month highs as surging oil prices from the Iran war fueled inflation concerns and reduced expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts this year. (TradingEconomics)

1. FBI Warns Russian Hackers Target Signal, WhatsApp in Mass Phishing Attacks: "The campaign targets individuals of high intelligence value, including current and former U.S. government officials, military personnel, political figures, and journalists," FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X. After gaining access, the actors can view messages and contact lists, send messages as the victim, and conduct additional phishing from a trusted identity." (HackerNews)
-Technology and Science-
1. Musk says SpaceX and Tesla to build advanced chip factories in Austin: Musk unveiled the Terafab, describing it as a comprehensive chip facility with integrated R&D, testing, and packaging, saying 'To the best of my knowledge, this doesn’t exist anywhere in the world'. It will integrate Tesla, SpaceX and xAI to accelerate autonomy and AGI, with space-based solar-powered AI satellites lowering compute costs. The facility’s closed-loop design includes on-site photomask manufacturing, wafer fabrication, testing, and packaging, aiming for initial operational capability late 2026. Positioned at scale, the project aims to produce ~1 terawatt yearly, with roughly 80% for space and 20% for ground, while Musk proposed an industrial base on the moon and free trips to Saturn. (GroundNews) (AC-This is a generational ambition.)
2. White House AI Proposal Seeks to Override State Laws, Avoid New Regulator: The White House on Friday released a sweeping national policy framework for artificial intelligence, outlining recommendations to Congress that would set national standards for AI while relying on existing federal agencies—rather than creating a new regulator. The framework follows earlier efforts by the Trump administration to curb state-level AI regulation. (Decrypt)
