It's really no different than we have in Cybersecurity as it is with a lot of blocklists, we have to test and vet the sources.
Bluesky is the same way, we should be able to subscribe to lists we agree with and how they conduct blocking. Make it something modular and configurable similar to PfBlockerNG in my PfSense firewall on my home network.
No system is perfect but regardless of the potential downfall, without mechanisms for defense problems like this can and will repeat.
