Social media suffers in every form from gradual rot. As the network grows, it is monetized, it generates arguments with people who are intransigent, and becomes a platform for manipulation.

The users move from whatever is "cool" at the moment, to where the grass is greener and the process restarts. Usually its the young that move first. That's why Facebook is for boomers at this point.

Nostr has a chance to break this cycle. Being an open source protocol, eventually every user will have their own AI filter generating a feed that makes them happy, not a feed that makes them angry in order to increase engagement.

The user having sovereignty over the feed will be transformative.

I'm curious to see if nostr will eventually take over. My wife says "No. People are too lazy." I think with all the devs working on it, eventually it will be a superior experience. It's already improved orders of magnitude over the last 12 months.
