•Total mass ≈ 3,200 kilotonnes
•95 % is large debris (>25 mm)
•~60 % at the surface, ~37 % deeper, ~2 % on beaches
•Annual input ≈ 500 kilotonnes
These plastics stick around longer than once thought, and the total keeps growing.
