That he is trying to stay out of prison is a common theory but it goes completely against evidence, because he did everything in his New York case (where he COULD have tried plea bargaining to a misdemeanor) to MAXIMIZE the possibility of going to prison.

Trump is running to punish those he hates for no good cause, and he is running for other such irrational reasons. If he had not run, he'd feel himself humiliated by Joe Biden.
