I think so. There’s all sorts of synonyms but there’s also this legacy of words used and striking the balance takes work.
functions that take functions as arguments are really, really important to me, and “map” is like the fundamental higher-order function (or rather, apply and reduce are, since you can make map with both of those, but still) so calling {a: 1, b: 2} a “map” in my language creates a conflict.
