Not in an artificial camera, no. The lenses stay where they are unless moved (by either your hand or the auto-focus motor). As long as no such force is applied to them, friction holds them in place.
Which might be a problem in biology, now that I think about it. Biological systems tend to be rather wet inside. Not much friction available. And if the focus mechanism was dry and held in place by friction, it would probably wear out and fail rather quickly.
