many here may talk about the Scandinavian model but I don't think so many appreciate the full extent of the changes that would be needed. Too many don't realise, or ignore, what this 'funneling more through the state' means and would baulk at the prospect of higher taxes. We have the fixed notion that we could somehow have a high support structure and at the same time have low taxes. And I'm not just talking personal taxation - there'd need to be greater government involvement across the board. And perhaps a less adversarial political model.
