What reminded me of this is some big podcast (I think the same one that had the demon alien priest) recently had a guest on that was telling the story of "Mel's Hole" like it was fact. It was obviously fake when it aired in the 90s, but now in the tard age, people believe it.

For those that don't know, "Mel's Hole" was a famous Art Bell saga that began in 1997 when a caller named "Mel" claimed he had a bottomless pit in his backyard that he lowered miles of fishing line into and it never touched the bottom. You could also put dead animals in it that might come back to life. Even when it aired, callers pointed out the weight of the fishing line he claimed he had lowered into the hole would have exceeded the breaking point of the line, not to mention other inconsistencies in this obvious hoax and the fact that people who lived in the area could never find Mel or the hole. The story then got wilder, claims of black helicopters and Hopi Indian shamans, and then just stupider from there. Fun mindless listening on a late night drive in the 90s, being discussed as fact on a podcast in 2026.

The tard age is upon us.
