What if the relays behaved in a tiered fashion like DNS? Say I host a small relay and that relay *just* pulls data from my follows ... or some kind of swarm? What about the peer exchange protocols for torrents, but with a relay network? The idea is lower traffic accounts/keys would tend to use smaller relays, while the high traffic accounts (ie ) would migrate up to the higher capacity relays.

So I could host my own small relay that prioritizes notes from my follows, but then my lower tier relay would then push notes up to the higher ones if requested.

Or, if it worked like backward DNS, all messages would have a 'home relay,' and that relay then passes messages up the chain as requested.

I dunno how any of this would work in practice ... just tossing out random ideas ...
