I read a book once, about the transportations to Australia. I mistakenly believed that the criminals were merely going there to serve there time in already established towns/prisons. They were not, there was absolutely NOTHING there😳😂. They helped build the prisons themselves. When they were released, they were then given a plot of land, to do with, as they pleased. That's basically how the very first towns in Australia, were formed!
