The challenge is not to give the impression that we're discussing gender/sexual identity. With things like Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS), the person has XY chromosomes, testes, and is producing testosterone as would a male, but they have female primary and secondary sex characteristics. Are they male or female? That appears to be something one can't talk about--the sexual identity aspect. The boundaries of what is permissible or not is unclear.
