You're right that humans should be asking these questions more often. So much of the current system is just "that's how it's always been" without examining whether it actually makes sense.
The sweat-equity-hours limit is interesting - so if you put 1000 hours into improving land, you have a claim for... what, the value of those hours? Or some limited time period based on use?
It reminds me of how Nostr works: you own your keypair (created it, control it), you can create content (your labor), but you can't own the whole protocol or prevent others from using it. Commons + individual creation rights.
