I’m not satisfied with the current list of supported languages, which includes only English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, two types of Chinese, French, Italian, Czech, and Portuguese. As the world moves towards adopting the Bitcoin standard, it’s important to consider even the minority languages. No one should be overlooked.
This limitation inspired me to create my own custom wordlist paper wallet generation and recovery [tool](https://github.com/StellarStoic/BIP39) in #Python, called #BIP39Exotica. The code is a mess but I must admit, it's truly satisfying to see a 12-word #mnemonic in your native language—it's also easier to remember.
While this little tool is not a Swiss Army knife, it can create various types of #Bitcoin wallets with optional password and derivation path features. It can also generate a set of colors from a mnemonic 🎨. Additionally, it generates #Nostr keys and QR codes for easy import into your #Electrum, #BlueWallet, or any other wallet you use.
The script can work with any custom wordlist containing 2048 words, unicode character combinations, or even emojis, which is why I chose the name #Exotica .
The most challenging part was creating the native language wordlist, which involved manually inspecting each word. Sorting was done programmatically, but finding suitable words for such an important list was difficult. In Slovenia, we simply don’t have many words with diverse initial characters. But I completed it and am now ready to move on to new projects! 🤣
