In the early days, Etsy was really pushing the idea of community. There were some social features where people could meet others in thier craft. Dont rememeber much beyond that.

People say that they use Etsy to be found. Essentially it is "where the people are", which is why I imagine that people stay with it, no matter how shitty Etsy might get. Are there any other sites like Etsy, which allow people to sell DIY/hand-made goods, with the same "where the people are" vibe? I can gather that my friend will continue having his domain as a LinkTree like site, and then have his "store" link go to Etsy.
