And so Iceland said "no" to joining the European Union.
Honestly? I get it. Who in their right mind willingly signs up for top-down moralizing and a bureaucratic apparatus designed to regulate everything down to the shape of your cucumbers?
Yet, part of me still feels a bit of a sting. I actually believe in human brotherhood, cultural exchange, and voluntary cooperation.
I just hate that the State hijacked the concept and sold us a membership card with a 1,000 page terms of service.
Real, lasting cooperation doesn't come from treaties signed by politicians in expensive suits. It comes from voluntary alignment, aligned incentives, and game theory.
You know, the stuff that makes Bitcoin tick and keeps open-source software running without a central CEO calling the shots.
Open source isn't just a license for software code, it's a architecture for life. It proves we can build complex, thriving, and deeply cooperative global systems without borders, without coercive authority, and without asking for permission.
Less Brussels, more consensus mechanisms. 🤙
