Thus Dawkins could claim that he'd somehow *explained* religious beliefs as being caused by some specific infectious agent, as though Christianity (or at least those bits of it which annoy Richard Dawkins) and Islam (all of which enrages Richard Dawkins) and other pesky religions were now reducible to simple aggregations of self-replicatory **memes**, reinforcing each other and assisting in one another's propagation, like the different bits of media which make up a gigantic popular franchise.
But I'm suggesting that to to be successful, a meme which is really and truly *memetic* ought to feature a star...an actual, physical, credible entity to which the meme can be anchored. Without that anchoring-point, I suggest, the meme wouldn't become memetic.
