In the finance articles I used to edit and write, we made a habit of using a technical term - the jargon - and then parenthetically define it on the first use.
I once read a blog post by a freelancer that wrote/edited investment commentary for big financial firms. Her advice was valuable:
If you parenthetically define a term in your commentary or analysis, the readers that know the term or jargon will gloss over it and not be bothered, but the readers who don't know the term will appreciate the clarification rather than feel excluded by industry jargon.
That settled it for me. It makes sense to use the precise jargon (that's what jargon is for), but share its meaning so others don't feel left out of the conversation.
