It's a particularly conservatard thing to do to beat your chest and rabble rabble about le stupid liberals shutting down power plants to the point we have to ration electricity in a first world country, but in all honesty you can't really explain this away as just conservative bluster.

We are experiencing a housing shortage like never before, an incredibly sharp rise in living costs, we can't even guarantee that the lights will stay on, and yet not a single government entity is taking any steps to halt it, let alone reverse it.

It should be obvious that this is maliciousness, not simply stupidity.
