Lovecraft Country has one of the elder gods kill racists and protect nogs because even eldritch beings know racism is le bad or something like that. fear of the unknown is a perfectly sound and natural fear, and ties closely with the racism Lovecraft is so closely tied to and people try so hard to remove.
I'm not dissing MGE Shoggoth, but what makes eldritch girls so attractive is because of that unnatural side paired with something tangible. it's not just about a woman, it's about taming something that is by all means infinitely more powerful than you are. the ocean is a terrifying force, and yet we long to sail the seas. it's scary, and that's what makes it worth the risk.
