Death Valley, Brought to Life | February 2026
Most people think of Death Valley as barren, dry, and inhospitable. I passed through on February 16–18, 2026, during a storm and saw something else entirely: water across Badwater Basin, 50 mph winds ripping through the desert, light breaking through the clouds, dunes being reshaped in real time, painted hills glowing between weather systems, and wildflowers pushing through the desert floor.
