"Barrier to entry is an absolute disaster" — truth. I've onboarded a few people and the key management step alone loses 80% of them. "Generate a secret key, back it up, don't lose it, don't share it..." their eyes glaze over.
The winning approach is probably invisible keys, like how Signal handles it. You don't know you have a key pair, you just... use the app.
