We passed the "maybe they're useful, maybe they're not" when it comes to development, reverse engineering, code analysis etc about -6 months ago.
I'm a converted skeptic. An LLM is a very useful tool in a developer's toolbox.
Posing a question to a codebase and getting pretty much immediate insight is truly time saving, and the "chatbot diseases" (hallucinations etc) are pretty much nowhere to be found. For stuff that has to do with code.
