It’s worth mentioning how I actually use AI for writing–because I do use it, just not the way most people assume. My uses are pretty specific:
1. Transcription – turning audio into text
2. Image descriptions – writing alt-text for accessibility
3. Research – pulling citations I can check against
4. Fact-checking – verifying that what I think I know is actually true
5. Grammar – making sure everything reads cleanly
6. Tone – ensuring what I write matches how I want to sound
Here’s the key point: this is not LLM “generation.” I’m not pressing a button and having a machine spit out my work. I draft first. I ask AI for edits, corrections, or supporting details. Then I put in the finishing touches myself.
In other words, AI here works like an assistant–closer to a spellchecker, an index, or an editor–while the actual writing, ideas, and style are mine.
