A man down on the Florida coast was facing a hurricane. A couple days beforehand, the news station began covering the storm and potential impacts to the region. The day before the storm arrived, the county issued an evacuation order for coastal areas. As the storm was making landfall, the man's neighbor offered to let him come along as he was leaving for Orlando. A few hours later, a boat came by and offered to take the man to a collection point further inland where he could then be transferred to a shelter the state established. An hour after that, while sitting on his roof dangling his feet in the water, a line was thrown down from a helicopter. The man continued to ignore them, the water crested over his roofline, and he was swept out to sea in the surge.
Upon arriving at the pearly gates, the indignant man asked Peter why God didn't save him. Peter gave him a quizzical look and said, "what did you think the evacuation warning, truck, boat, and helicopter was for?!?!?"
