Programmers have had a false privilege for most of our existence, that the Company cares about good code, about doing things right and about technical debt. Because when we were a very scarce resource they used it to keep us happy.
They don't, they care about EBITDA in one form or another. They think AI code gen means they never have to listen to us whine about tech debt again. They may be, mostly, right. You're either an owner or a cost. You'll need to prove your worth it more and more.
