No one will belive you can manage a currency with "backing" - anyone who is not a desperado has no incentive to trust you. If you are independence movement (Alberta) or starting your own new country dont try to "back" your own currency. Just enshrine absolute monetary freedom in the constitution with only rule that government can pay and receive in any cuurency that trades/ is convertible to other currencies 24/7 365. Bribe whoever has geopolitical dominance with making their currency the unit of account but simply enshrine absolute freedom to pay government in any money that is convertible 24/7 365.
