⚡️🇫🇷 NEW - The bill aimed at “establishing a presumption of self-defense for law enforcement officers”—criticized as a “license to kill” law—has been PASSED by the National Assembly.

The bill stipulates that when a police officer or gendarme uses their weapon, the use of force will be presumed lawful and proportionate, unless the investigation reveals evidence to the contrary.

It therefore does not eliminate judicial oversight, but reverses the burden of proof: it would be up to the prosecution to demonstrate that the use of force was not justified.

The bill must now be reviewed by the Senate.
