WELL FOLKS ITS SO OVER FOR TONY.
IT HAS BEEN DECIDED, I WILL NOT BE RESUMING PAINTING.
And the reason will likely not surprise you.
SO, while reapplying for insurance, my old insurance company wouldn't cover me without a payroll (work comp) audit (I had switched coverages and pulled a new policy with GC coverage) and apparently that spooked them so they wouldn't insure me.
I was like well, well, well that can't go well. So I switched providers and applied for a new one. They requested an audit, i talked to first insurance company and they said they closed the file because audit not required.
Well, second insurance company started playing hard ball and demanded a full payroll audit for ALL operations (the past 4 years).
Now, idk if you remember but I had some crews that were, well, lets just call them temps. But, do to new work comp requirements it turns out those "temps" are no longer allowed to be classified as temps...
And, well, i may or may not have paid those temps over 100k over the course of like 2 years. And well, well, well Tony DOES NOT need to get audited and end up with work comp payroll liability on over 100k worth of helper wages...
SOOOOOOO THE PAINTING DREAMS ARE DEAD. Unless i want to cough up 10-15k...which i can't because you know BEER STORE.
Anyway, jokes on me, cheap labor isn't "cheap" anymore and apparently insurance companies won't believe me that I'm just a single dude painting apartments...SOOOOOOO
No more painting for Tony. Which, tbf I fucking hated running that business anyway and was just tired of beer store poverty wages but IT WOULD SEEM A NEW PLAN IS NEEDED
TLDR: Tony did a sneaky, but it wasn't so sneaky and now I can't pay the back premiums.
