A veteran software engineer friend of mine has on more than one occasion lamented the size of the teams, their combined skill level, and the types of people who are overpaid to occupy do nothing positions.
Turns out, to the best of my understanding, the boomer idea that 'throwing more bodies' at a project or a problem actually has the opposite of the intended effect in software engineering. Large, heavily compartmentalized development firms are a fucking shit show. It's a mess and it's indescribably frustrating to deal with on top of some stinking, politically and ideologically charged problem glasses wearing purple hair who gets paid a retardedly high salary to 'manage social media' or some such bullshit word salad of a job title that can be summed up as 'I contribute nothing'.
