agree with [@Lily_and_frog](https://mastodon.art/@Lily_and_frog ) - a massive population drop would be necessary. also, define "near future"? we're headed for 2, probs 3 °C warming in the next decade, and it will take a long time to reverse that.
I don't think we'd necessarily be "happier" (also that's a definition problem). without some kind of apocalyptic event I don't think deurbanization can and will happen.
and while life in a village is less stressful in some regards, the societal pressures are just different ones
