FWIW I rarely hear anything through the walls (unless they're drilling). Most stuff I hear comes through the door, which lets sound through more readily than the walls do. The biggest issue was when the unit above me changed to having wooden floors, and they had young kids (though my agent said they've possibly violated strata laws), but they seem to have since switched back to carpet
