Design "refreshes" are the most fascinating thing in software development. Few things enjoy such unquestionable inevitability. How strange it is to present a design "language" as objectively better and thoughtfully considered, only to discard it in a few years.
Nothing is iconic these days because iconic things must endure to gain that status, but nothing can be allowed to endure for so long. Freshness becomes the only value. The ever molting skin must reveal a tender surface.
Whatever it is, it is far from design.
