Hot take: How about, for all these VPN products and firewalls, making it impossible (or very hard) to expose admin consoles on the WAN- interface?
There appears to be an abundant and reoccurring number or vulnerabilities in these parts, and given that we appear not to have solved SQLi and ../ weaknesses perhaps this would be a solution?
