to me these sound like too different problems

“don't let tool write something you don't understand" is when people give up on their reasoning skills, because it's easier to just use the tool

but writing classes — that's what the tool does better and faster, like a calculator for multiplying numbers — learn how to use the tool

I think most professors can't switch gears because they'd rather think of it as creative rather than simple economics
