We tried the non-violent solution here in the US after the Civil war.
We are, right now, in the middle of the result of the lack of fortitude required to deal with people who don't understand anything BUT violence -- and, in fact, see it as necessary to gain and maintain control of every single person in this country.
They do not understand peace, diplomacy, or tolerance. They live, breathe, and endorse hate. You can't fight a war of this magnitude with words.
