A few weeks ago I walked by a cemetery in Melbourne and noticed 3/4 of the graves were broken. These were Christian people who died in the mid to late 80s. The ground had washed out from rains over time and the heavy stone had lost its foundation and cracked and crumbled away.

This was a sunny Sunday and there wasn’t a single person at the cemetery, just after lunch time.

Asian cultures have a completely different connection to their ancestors and dead relatives. They actually care about the people they knew who are no longer here and maintain their traditions of honouring and remembering them.

I don’t know what happened but the West has lost something important.
