I'm at a weird transitional moment in the lifecycle of my Urban Astronomer podcast, where I've stopped making vague promises about how I'll release a new episode one day, out of guilt, and I'm starting to actually feel a faint fizz of excitement about future recordings, maybe a format change, like this could actually be fun again if I start recording.
It'll still be a while before I get over the jump of finding even 5 minutes in a 24 hour period when my home is quiet enough to actually make a recording that's not polluted with dogs barking, motorbikes revving, children bickering, dishes getting chipped by whoever's sulkily washing them, aircraft coming in to land, microwaves humming, vacuum cleaners and leaf blowers shrieking, wives having meetings on teams, though.
My home is the opposite of soundproof. It is a sound engineering nightmare. I used to record at 11pm, but the kids are teenagers now and they don't actually sleep anymore.
Still. I actually kinda feel like finding a way to overcome this, instead of just shrugging sadly and giving up.
