There's a raging debating going on over at #Bluesky, but if you read the article, you'll see that what #ProtonMail did was comply with the law in Switzerland, as they are required to do. They were ordered to hand over credit-card information, which isn't encrypted.

At best, this article is a heads-up that if you want total privacy, you'll need to find an anonymous way to pay for your email.

It's not a "nothing burger," but Proton Mail isn't at fault, here.
