Aren't there any normal, non-megacorp-chain restaurants in the US? Why does everyone have childhood memories in soulless corpo shit? I think I was fifteen by the time I first tried McDonalds, it was the first chain I had ever been to, it was crap, and no chain was ever a family thing.
