My dad is in broadcast radio (it's where I learned my skills), and he had a rack mounted DAT machine he used for audio production back in the day. I learned on old machines like that. I even remember watching him produce radio spots using reel-to-reel as a kid. I was too young to use the razor, but he'd grab an extra stool and show me the basic process when I was 7.
