I've seen and smelled some pretty rough things in emergency medicine. One of the worst was a woman with untreated breast cancer. It had eaten most of her breast and into her chest wall. She'd packed the wound with toilet paper for quite a while. I cut her bra off and chunks of decayed tissue fell out everywhere. Her chest was full of toilet paper mush. One of the nastiest and worst smelling things I've encountered. I've actually had that happen with two separate patients (minus the paper). Now I'm the guy people call for these patients since the smell is so unbearable. Lucky me.
