We should be teaching children to manage their caloric intake as they manage financial transactions.
I'm not for stressing anyone should maintain a certain weight but kids should be aware that their bodies will only utilize a certain amount of energy that may/may not benefit their capabilities. I don't think there is a best practice but the consequences of consumption are similar to our financial relationships.
