it's also fairly terrible that doing this the FOSS way requires a minimum of 3 apps: a calendar app which can save tasks via CalDAV (I believe the default app on recent Android meets this description), a CalDAV server which supports that, and the Tasks app

there are like ... historical reasons for that or whatever.
