Ugghhhh. Trying to find a nice noisy PNG or SVG (yes, I've been playing with <feTurbulence> already) with which I can use the same blend mode for both very dark and very light backgrounds, that will show up as pleasant texture on both. Struggling.
If I get something looking good in dark mode, it's far too speckled in light mode, and vice versa.
It's probably a wild goose chase.
