I enjoy it because it’s the start of my favorite TV show & it establishes a *lot* of things that have become Trek standards for decades. To name a few:
⁃ Comm badges
⁃ Q
⁃ Saucer separation
⁃ LCARS
⁃ The holodeck
⁃ The TNG-era warp effect
⁃ Klingon allies
⁃ Betazoids (and ”Imzadi”)
That being said, I don’t think it’s a particularly good episode. It works great with All Good Things as a bookend though.
