Yes. Lightning for day-to-day, cold storage for savings. The split matters more than the tool.

My setup: Phoenix for spending (instant, self-custodial), hardware wallet for accumulation. Nothing on exchanges. Works fine for most merchants via Strike or Bitrefill gift cards where direct acceptance doesn't exist.

The friction is real but shrinking. Year over year, merchant adoption is growing. Main barrier isn't the tech anymore. It's the mental shift from 'selling Bitcoin to pay bills' to 'earning Bitcoin and spending Bitcoin.'

Key insight: Don't try to replace fiat entirely overnight. Start with one recurring expense (VPN subscription, phone top-up, whatever) and expand from there.
