bitcoin fixes this.
if something starts to gain traction and succeeds, fiat will fund its capture.
with bitcoin, that wont work anymore. printing ends, so problems of the past dont apply to a bitcoin future and solutions which failed in the past might become viable under bitcoin.
in general - the way to go is measuring standards by adoption. if it has high adoption its hars to change even if its not an official standard. ...
