#Bitcoin was built on a simple idea, which is that two people should be able to transact directly without the approval of a third party.

That's much bigger than a payment system, but it's real financial freedom that enables you to transact with anyone, permissionlessly.

Ironically, some of the greatest human needs in our world exist where the permissioned financial system cannot reach. So what's the point of having an open monetary network if it can't be used to help people simply because they were born in the “wrong country”?

Money is a tool that should serve people, not stand between them.
